Maria Kazimierczak is a product designer working across a spectrum of objects that extend beyond pure function, bringing beauty into everyday use. In her projects, she frequently draws inspiration from water, aquatic life, and sailing. Movement, fluidity, and experimentation are central elements of her design journey. She loves to design pieces that are not stiff or static, but instead require care and adaptation, objects that change, grow, and evolve, much like lakes and their biospheres. Her research focuses on bridging beauty, usability, and sustainability within design practices related to water.

"Flux" is a collection named after the constant motion and flow of both water and fabric. It is made from old, discarded sails, combined with natural fibers and pigments. Natural dyes and fibers are used to create graphic representations of lakes on the sewn garments, while the stiffer, more structural sailcloth reintroduces ideas of circularity and life by the water.

The Flux Sail Bag

Shaped with a triangular lines and cuts the bag resembles it’s source material, the old
sails. The cuts and structure of the piece has been thought through to provide
functional and fashionable element of a daily wear. With wider piece of fabric and rope
for the construction of the stap the bag allows for comfort of wear and adjustability.

The bag accessories have been inspired by the life on and around a yacht community and lakes. The tedious twists and knots separated by colourful beads bear uncanny resemblance to the ropes tying the boats at the bay, the buoys in the water and the pebbles at the shore. All tied together the design connects the different natural and artificial elements of the lake.
